Aniwhenua

Aniwhenua/Rangitaiki trip is coming up! Saturday, March 27th - Sunday, March 28th. This trip provides a bit of everything. The Aniwhenua river is a great beginner (grade 2) trip, with some moderate white water on it. The Rangitaiki is a more serious (grade 3 and 4) run, but beginners can raft or even sometimes kayak the lower part if they are super keen.
	This trip will be based at the Aniwhenua Campground near Murupara, about an hour away from Rotovegas. The Aniwhenua run on the Rangitaiki is one of the premier grade 2 kayaking runs in the North Island and is the best place to learn to paddle for club members. The Rangitaiki River also has the famed Jeff's Joy run which will be rafted both days on the weekend and is some of the best rafting the club offers.
Gear hireage for the weekend is set at $10 per day to kayak or $20 to raft. There are no tickets sold to this event and the only costs are food, gas money and gear hireage. Plus Alcohol. Trip numbers are smaller than Ful James - we are limiting the number of beginners to 60 so instructors have more time with everyone on the water. There is also the mighty Murupara pub and its dodgy locals to contend with on Saturday night and of course the partying and general mayhem expected of AUCC as with any other trip. After two days of kayaking and rafting when you are feeling pretty shattered there are the awesome secret spot free hot pools for a soak on the way home.
